THE SPREAD OF THEOLOGY AND ITS IMPACT IN INDIA
Southeast Asia accepted the Hindu texts, theologies, rituals, architectural style and social organizations in the first half of the 1st millennium CE. But of course these people accepted the Hindu’s way of life by tailoring it to their liking. The spread of this theology was due to military conquest, how can war increase the number of believers? Excellent question allow me to explain. During jihad, also described as the holy war, was to defend the faith of Islam belief. Commitment to charity, spiritual equality, and a victorious Muslim army attracted new believers. The collapse of the Roman Empire caused a mixture of Judaism and Christianity to spread beyond their confined walls. While the Middle East traded with Asia Arabs and Muslims made connections all across the India which also played into distribution the Islam theology.
Hinduism is not a religion in India, it is a way of life. By adopting Hinduism theology in the 1st millennium India’s uprising is solely reflected on that faith. Indian cuisine was inspired by Hindu traditions. All Indian philosophy schools are made from Hindu principles even the preforming arts are from Hindu traditions. Some negative impacts is the mistreatment of women causing high domestic violence and low literacy levels. Hindu practices focus on individuals’ inner self which requires intense meditation sessions, worshiping such as prayers and offerings are usually done at home to a shrine. Different parts of the temple have a spiritual/symbolic meaning.
The Kumbh Mela happens every 12 years at Allahabad where the Ganges and Jumna rivers become one. This festival is a ritual bathing in which they believe their sins are washed away. Mental Health: Suicide
For the mental health charts I was a bit disappointed that Gapminder did not have data for the 1970s but that is life. From 2002 to 2004 the total suicide deaths in India slightly increases towards 200,000. In India they practice dowry, this is where the bride brings a type of good (money, estate, jewelry, etc.) to her husbands in marriage. With low salary jobs and high demands for dowry, families that have daughters become stressed not just to pay the dowry but also to find suitable men for their daughters. Some families just kill their female offspring to avoid the situation entirely. How does this tie in which suicide rates? If the bride’s family does not pay the dowry the main outcomes are rejection or torture. Rejection just brings shame to the bride’s family which may choose to disown her. But if the marriage takes place and the dowry is not paid in full the family torments the women. This includes burning, cutting womanly parts and a list of horrible things. Some of these women take their life in order to escape their arranged marriage because of this. I believe this is the reason these numbers are so high.
Education : ratio of girls to boys
Because women are seen as minorities in India it is easy to see that in 1971 girls were not really pushed to get an education. Girls are to be taught how to cook, clean, take care of the children and obey their husbands’ command. By 2003 we see this leap from 58 to 90 which is incredible due to the traditional mindset this group of people are. Thanks to the programs that take action on solving women issues, like the UN Women, across the globe to be seen as equals. There is still in need of a lot of improvement on India’s social issues, like the situation with dowry, but by these girls getting an education they can have knowledge that they can create a better world for women. This will take a tremendous about of strength and patience but with the knowledge women can show that they are the key to unlocking a brighter future in India.
